The New Mexico Film Office Announces

“Better Call Saul” to film a fifth season in New Mexico

Santa Fe, N.M. – The New Mexico State Film Office today announced that the television series, “Better Call Saul” will begin principal photography on season five this month.
“The fact that Sony Pictures and “Better Call Saul” are filming for a fifth season in New Mexico is a tribute to our professional crews, our climate, and our new package of incentives which make New Mexico the best in the country for this industry,” said New Mexico Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Alicia J. Keyes. “We welcome them back.”
“Albuquerque itself is one of characters in “Better Call Saul” and we welcome the show back for season five,” said Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller. “Productions like these give our city a boost and employ hundreds of talented Burqueños.”
The production will employ approximately 375 New Mexico crew members, 200 New Mexico actors and 500 New Mexico background talent.
“Better Call Saul” is executive produced by Peter Gould, Vince Gilligan, Mark Johnson, Melissa Bernstein, and Thomas Schnauz. A Sony Pictures Television production and created by Gilligan and Gould, the series stars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando and Giancarlo Esposito.

The New Mexico Film Office Announces “The Mule” to film in New Mexico

New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that Clint Eastwood’s upcoming feature “The Mule,” from Warner Bros. Pictures and Imperative Pictures, will film later this month in Las Cruces.
“We’re thrilled to welcome another production to New Mexico,” said Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “We’re proud to see the film industry continuing to grow in and around Las Cruces – and throughout southern New Mexico.”

The production will employ approximately 85 New Mexico crew members and approximately 200 New Mexico background talent.

“Las Cruces is excited to welcome Clint Eastwood and his new movie, ‘The Mule,’ to our community,” said Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima.  “Our diverse architecture and unique filming locations, great year-round weather, and full service Film Office and film studio make Las Cruces an ideal filming location.”*.
The film is directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, along with producers Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera, Jessica Meier, Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas. It is executive produced by Dave Bernad, Ruben Fleischer and Todd Hoffman, and co-produced by Jillian Apfelbaum.

Starring Clint Eastwood, Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburn, Michael Pena, Dianne Weist, Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga and Igancio Serricchio, “The Mule” is the story of Earl Stone, a man in his 80’s who is broke, alone and facing foreclosure of his business.  He is offered a job that simply requires him to drive however, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel.

The winning films in each category will be announced at an Awards Ceremony and Networking Event on May 19, 2018 at 5:00 pm at the National Hispanic Cultural Center/Bank of American Theater in Albuquerque (1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102). The event will start with a networking hour where attendees can mingle. Food trucks will also be on hand for those who want to purchase food or beverage. The Awards Ceremony including a panel with last year’s winners and the handing out of awards will begin at 6:30 pm.

Running With The Devil” to begin production in New Mexico

Santa Fe, N.M. – New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that “Running with the Devil” will begin principal photography in mid March through the end of March in Albuquerque.

Written and directed by Jason Cabell (a highly decorated Navy Seal Combat Veteran), “Running With The Devil” draws on Jason Cabell’s real-life USA Navy Seal experiences when assigned to work with the DEA in Colombia’s coca drug fields.

Santa Fe, N.M. – New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced that the Amazon Studios television series, “Too Old to Die Young,” will begin principal photography of an episode on March 6th, 2018 in Albuquerque. Production on the episode, which will utilize both first and second unit crews, will continue through March before returning to Los Angeles. The production will employ 75-100 New Mexico crew members, 20 cast/stunt New Mexico actors and approximately 240 New Mexico background talent, including stand-ins. “Too Old to Die Young” explores the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles by following characters’ existential journeys from being killers to becoming Samurais in the City of Angels. Co-Creator and executive producer Nicolas Winding Refn (“Drive,” “The Neon Demon,” “Only God Forgives”) directs all ten episodes of the series, which stars Miles Teller (“Only the Brave,” “Thank you For Your Service,” “Whiplash”) John Hawkes (“The Sessions,” “Winters Bone”) and Jena Malone (“The Neon Demon,” “Hunger Games: Mockingjay”).
