Pecos NHP Announces Summer Internships

Pecos, NM: Pecos National Historical Park is recruiting for up to three GS-04 Park Guide (Student Trainee) temporary positions for the summer of 2018 as part of the National Park Service’s Pathways Program.

In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Internship Program you must be a current a student who has been accepted for enrollment or is enrolled at least half-time in an accredited high school, college, professional, technical, vocational, or trade school pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. To maintain eligibility for internships individuals must remain enrolled in a degree or certificate program throughout their appointment. The Park Guide interns will assist the Division of Interpretation and Education in a variety of ways. They will present talks, answer questions, guide small groups and provide orientation services to park visitors. The interns will also work closely with park staff on critical special initiatives including website development, social media, and special events.

The GS-04 park guide earns 14.35 per hour, generally works full-time 40-hour week, and is entitled to paid holidays. Holiday, evening, and weekend work is required. A driver’s license is recommended.

These positions are expected to start mid-May and end in mid-August.

From I-25 N: Take the Pecos/Glorieta Exit, #299. Left onto overpass, right onto Route 50; proceed on Route 50 for eight miles. At the village of Pecos, take a right at the four-way stop onto Route 63. In two miles, the park will be on your right. From I-25 S: Take the Rowe Exit, #307. Follow signs. From Highway 63, the park will be on your left.
